Sustainable Development

THERE ARE ALREADY MORE THAN 7.8 BILLION PEOPLE ON THE PLANET, AND AN ADDITIONAL 80 MILLION ARE ADDED EVERY YEAR.

Feeding the world's population while increasing efficiency, maintaining environmental sustainability and reducing the negative impact of agriculture on the environment is an increasing challenge. That is why Cedrob Group's strategy is in line with the UN's global sustainable development goals.

In recent years, the world's population has grown by approximately 1% per year.

While the rate of growth of the world's population is gradually slowing down - 50 years ago it was growing at more than 2% a year - the challenges for agriculture are increasing.

Compared to the year 2000, the number of people on earth has increased by 1.65 billion, and compared to 1955 by as much as five billion. Such an increase is a huge challenge for agriculture. It means that every year a population more than twice the size of Poland will have to be fed.

And despite the problems, people are living longer on average. The average age of the population is now over 30. Half a century ago, it was eight years shorter.

The challenge is all the greater in view of the limited possibility of increasing the area of agricultural land, the depletion and desertification of certain parts of the world, and the increasing frequency of natural disasters caused, among other things, by climate change.

The only rational solution in this situation is to promote the spread of a sustainable model of agricultural development that improves the efficiency of farming and minimises the negative impact on the environment and the surrounding areas.

This is a key element of the United Nations' Global Goals for Sustainable Development project. No region of the world, including Poland, can afford to ignore the need to create a sustainable agricultural model.

THIS IS ALSO THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE CEDROB GROUP,

Since its inception, the group has strived to build a complete production chain, taking care of food quality and safety at every stage of production, from seed to table. This approach not only ensures a competitive advantage, independence from external supplies and price fluctuations, and high efficiency, but also makes it possible to limit the negative impact on the local community and the environment.

SUSTAINABLE FOOD PRODUCTION IS NOT JUST ABOUT QUALITY AND EFFICIENCY.

It also contributes to food security in Poland. The example of the coronavirus pandemic, which the world has been facing since the beginning of 2020, shows how easily a fragile balance in the food market can be destroyed.

Price fluctuations or shortages of certain food products are not only the domain of poor countries, but can also affect developed countries.

The Cedrob Group is consistently and increasingly implementing the global sustainable development goals formulated by the United Nations.

The conviction that the future of the world depends on harmonious development in three closely interrelated dimensions - economic, social and environmental - has led to a commitment that is universal in nature and global in scope: 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

THE UN GLOBAL SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS PURSUED BY THE CEDROB GROUP

ZERO HUNGER

The Cedrob Group is constantly improving productivity and reducing the cost of animal protein production. It runs development programmes to help farmers build modern livestock facilities.

CLEAN WATER
AND SANITARY CONDITIONS

The Cedrob Group uses technologically advanced wastewater treatment plants and is one of the few companies in the industry to recycle water.

ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DECENT WORK

The Cedrob Group is one of the largest employers in the region and invests in technological solutions to improve productivity. It cooperates with many small and medium-sized enterprises, thus positively influencing the sustainable development of the region, including Northern Mazovia.

INNOVATION, INDUSTRY, INFRASTRUCTURE

The Cedrob Group carries out sustainable industrialisation of the agri-food sector. It uses advanced technologies to increase productivity.

RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION

The Cedrob Group combats food waste. It works with food banks. It works on the basis of a closed-loop economy, minimising food waste on all production lines.

CLIMATE ACTION

The Cedrob Group develops renewable energies. It invests in the construction of biogas plants, thus reducing the need for heat and electricity from non-renewable sources.
